Feb 9 - We Broke Free!!!

In the morning Carson was scheduled for an ultrasound of his abdominal organs at 9:30 and wasn't allowed to eat until then which was interesting. An already cranky baby and he can't have breakfast! Luckily Anth came to the hospital right after work so there were two of us to entertain him. Once the ultrasound was done it was time for food and then a nap. Shortly after he woke up from his morning nap one of the pediatricians and 4 med students came by to assess him. They all had a feel of his abdomen so they would all know what it feels like when the liver and spleen are enlarged. Cars was a trooper! He tends to be pretty good with assessments. While everyone was still in our room we got the good news that we were able to go home. It was decided that it is a virus (although we don't know exactly what kind - could be Mono, EBV, CMV - they seemed to be the most likely) and we just need to return in about 2 weeks for a repeat ultrasound and some more bloodwork. I tried to take a picture of Carson's rash but it's hard to see since it was with my camera phone again.


We were home by about 1pm and the boys went down for a nap almost immediately and Anth and I hit the couch. Before Anth had to go to work tonight his dad stopped by with some dinner for us and the boys which was so nice. I love it when I don't have to think about/make dinner. Shortly after Anth left I was, once again, graced with 2 whining babies. Luckily Gavin was easily entertained but Cars is just not feeling good and needing a lot of attention. Once dinner, bath and bottle were done he perked up for about an hour though. You can really see the difference between the boys. Although Carson had 'perked up' he still looked worn out.

I really hope that my little man is feeling better soon. I am back to work on Monday so hopefully before then!
